Don,t bother. Its closing for a remodel job. Staff was acting like they were losing there jobs soon, not much interest in customers. 3 beers left Stout was drinkable. Food might be better after remodeling.

Walked in on a thurs at 9pm, the place was dead. Should have taken that for a sign. Wheat beer was bad, pale ale slightly better. Had a great pulled pork b-q sandwich. Service was pretty bad, bartender disappeared for a while. When I left at 10pm I was the last customer and they were closing. This place looks great inside and is big (14k sq. ft.) After reading the other bad reviews, not sure what is going on or why they are able to stay in business.

What a joke.
My job requires that I travel to just about every major city in N. America. I seek out microbreweries every chance I get. I'm certainly not a beer snob or anything, but this place sucked.
After I was seated, no one came by for 15 MINUTES! Finally, I stopped someone and they said they weren't sure who was covering my table. I then attempted to order only to find out that half of the beers weren't available. The two I tried were not good. The stout which is supposed to be 'silky smooth' was more like drinking chalk water. Their 'signature' beer was just terrible and amateurish. Start over.
The place was dead and yet it took way to long for a simple sandwich and fries. Server wasn't very friendly even after how I was neglected.
Pass...

First glass was cracked. Tried to buy shirts and glasses, they had them on display, but none to sell. Food was good and beer had a good taste. The layout of the place is great, open and a lot of character. Overall this was a good experience.

Place looks great and the reception was full of cheer. However as service so slow ordered a pitcher of Pale ale, unfortunately it had little character. If you like ribs tasting of "lighter fluid" and really dry pork chops you will love the food. Sorry will not see me again.

Another visit on our way home from a Spring Break trip. Tried "Rock Bottom" first, but quickly realized this was a bad move given the local NBA team had a game that night and the place was right next door. So, back to Southend. This time the beer had much more character, and the food and service was outstanding. Next time no need to go anywhere else.

As for the cheeky fellow whom posted last- Well I’ve been to Cyprus TX before and Hell would have better beer than that place did. I think you were correct in saying quote “(lots of yeast floating about), but didn't task like one. In fact it didn't taste like any beer I've ever had before.” If you had a clue what beer is and should taste like you would not be idly slandering the good name of our local fine breweries. Wheat beers come in many forms the one I think you were feebly attempting to describe is hefe-weizen ("wheat beer with yeast" in German). The traditional yeast strains used to ferment hefe-weizens, produce several distinctive phenols and esters. These organic compounds impart strong flavor and aroma. The flavors of these compounds are so unique and assertive that when they are present in other beer styles they are usually considered a sign of bad brewing practices, bacterial infection, demonic possession ect. South End’s “Iron Wheat Beer” is not hefe-weizen! It is American style Wheat Beer. It should not taste like the sludge from the bottom of a 4 day old spottie. Perhaps you should stick to your blue ribbon down in TX or some of that methyl- diacetal crap I’m sure you made using bread yeast and corn syrup before prom night! And leave beer reviews to Brew Masters and Organic Chemist who actually culture yeast and grow hops! I’ve a Growler of the beer in question in my frig and it’s Damn Good Beer!

Well, I was not overly impressed with this place. I tried two of their beers. The Motorman's Pale Ale was too malty for me and didn't have enough hops. The Ironman Wheat looked like a wheat bear (lots of yeast floating about), but didn't task like one. In fact it didn't taste like any beer I've ever had before. There was also a little bit of confusion about the beer types between the bartender and the waitress. The bartended said that they didn't have an IPA. However, the waitress called the Motorman's Pale Ale an IPA (she was wrong!).

Stopped by on our way home from a Spring Break trip. It's among several other establishments in an up and coming part of town. We liked the atmosphere in what seems to be an adaptive reuse. The beer was good, but a bit of a let down especially when the food was so good. Kick it up a bit, please!

I like my darks with a bit more of a bite than what the Oatmeal Stout had but overall it was not bad. Tried the Bankers Brown and found it really satisfying. The food was excellent and the service we received was the best I have seen in a very long time.

Great food, lots of choices and covers most tastes. The beer is unbelievable! I'm not a big beer drinker, but the house brews are wonderful.
